Laser Tattoo Removal for permanent makeup & small body tattoos
After almost 11 years in the Permanent Makeup industry, Lucy has built up a wealth of knowledge in pigments, colour theory and how pigments fade and break down over the years. Permanent Makeup and body tattoos can be a personal expression, but feelings, fashions, preferences and circumstances can change.
Laser tattoo removal uses concentrated laser beams to break down the pigments in your skin. These pigments are then naturally expelled by your body by your immune system, ultimately fading the tattoo over time. It’s a clinically proven, safe and effective way to erase a tattoo. Whether you need a clean slate for personal, professional reasons, your tastes have evolved, or you just want to change the shape and style of your eyebrows, Lucy can guide you through the process session by session.
Laser tattoo removal is a non-invasive procedure that leverages the body’s natural processes to gradually fade the tattoo. The procedure can target specific colours and areas, allowing for precision that leaves surrounding skin unaffected. Lucy is able to treat tattoos of various sizes, locations, and colour depths. It is a safe procedure with minimal side effects.

Permenant Makeup Removal

Treatment
Laser treatments can take from 1 – 10 appointments depending on a few factors including skin type, immune system, health, age of the tattoo and many more. Keep an open mind when it comes to how many sessions you may need. When booking multiple sessions 6 – 10 weeks minimum is needed between appointments to allow the time for your immune system to break down the pigments and wash them out of the body.
Before your appointment
Try hard to manage your expectations
Laser tattoo removal is successful – most of the time. There are circumstances that could change that, and sometimes a tattoo cannot be removed entirely. In those cases, it will be faded to something much less visible, but you will have a remaining image on your skin or old permanent makeup. Before committing to starting your tattoo removal journey please read through everything here so that you come to your appointment with a good understanding of the process.
This will not be a one appointment treatment
You most probably will need multiple treatments. You may see changes after only one session, but more likely together with Lucy, will work out a treatment plan that spans months, sometimes longer depending on so many factors. Anywhere from 5 to 10 treatments could be necessary.
Professional tattoos are usually easier to remove than amateur ones
Tattoos from amateurs and “scratchers” are often much more difficult to treat. This is because professional tattoos, are very evenly inked, which makes the laser treatment more predictable. Conversely, amateur tattoos have an uneven distribution of ink beneath the skin, which can be a tricky obstacle. It’s also more common to find minor scar tissue at the site of amateur tattoos which can hinder the removal process.
Location and size of tattoo matter
Location of the tattoo on the body will affect your tattoo removal treatment based on vascular supply and healing ability. Tattoos further from your heart will be harder to remove as blood flow helps you heal. Ankle tattoos are notoriously hard to remove whereas upper body tattooed are easier.
How it feels
Laser tattoo removal does hurt a bit. Less so on permanent makeup. The sensation feels like a rubber band snapping against the skin, which although not wonderful, it isn’t exactly agony either. The bottom line is that if you can stand the pain of having a tattoo, you will be able to take the pain of removal. Numbing cream can be used if needed.

Smoking
Stay out of the sun
Laser tattoo removal takes place over many months so it’s would be a bad time to work on your all-over tan. If you must enjoy the sun then at least keep the area being treated covered completely with clothing or use a tattoo cover. Tanned skin is prone to adverse reactions. You will need to keep the tattoo out of the sun for at least four weeks before your laser tattoo removal session so please plan accordingly. Tanning after laser causes blisters which can lead to scarring.
Take pain killers
DO NOT take aspirin or ibuprofen but Painkillers could help alleviate your discomfort if you take it before each laser session. Aspirin and Ibuprofen will both cause you to bruise after treatment so avoid these medications around the time of procedure. Ask for a cold compresses to the tattooed area before the procedure begins.
